Pharmaceutical Life Sciences include the studies of various functions and functional/regulatory mechanisms of the essential materials in living cells and applications for drug development.

Medicinal Chemistry

Majors: Medicinal Chemistry, Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry

Medicinal Chemistry is the study of how bioactive substances act inside the body at the molecular level, and of the application of this knowledge in the design and synthesis of compounds for the purposes of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases. This discipline determines the SAR between chemical structure and bioactivity to demonstrate medicinal value, and based on this develops more effective candidate substances for new drugs.

Drug Design

Majors: Structural Biopharmacy, Molecular Modeling & Drug Design (CADD)

Molecular design is an advanced interdisciplinary study of pharmacy, biophysics and computer science. The goal of the study is to design new drug candidates through understanding molecular functions of target proteins. To achieve this goal, the structural and functional properties of target proteins are analyzed using X-ray crystallography and the in silico methods. Concurrent studies of computer-aided molecular modeling and advanced drug design development against disease related proteins.

Natural Product Research

Majors: Pharmacognosy, Microbiology, Natural Product Chemistry

Natural Product Research in Pharmacy is a discipline which deals with is isolation, structure identification and biological activities of natural substances from various natural resources such as plants, marine organisms and microorganisms to provide lead compounds for new drug developments. Also standardizations of active ingredients of natural traditional medicines are included.

Pharmaceutical Analysis

Majors: Pharmaceutical Analysis, Bioanalytical Laboratory, Analytical Chemistry & Chemical Genetics

Pharmaceutical Analysis covers many important analytical techniques including advanced instrumental analysis such as proteomics, mass spectroscopy, NMR etc to identify and validate the structures and functions of target proteins and drug candidate substance. It also encompasses the study of how the bioactivity of candidates is triggered, and the development of analytical approaches to assess the efficacy of candidate substances derived from natural and synthetic substances.

Pharmaceutics

Majors: Physical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Pharmaceutics, Biopharmaceutics

Pharmaceutics is the study of safe and effective ways of using drugs, and it deals with the theories and techniques of making quality medicine, ensuring the efficacy of medicine, selection of dosage form and administration route, and the activity of the medication inside the human body. Pharmaceutics consists of specialized disciplines such as Physical Pharmacy, Biopharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical Dispensing, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacopoeia, etc.

Pharmacology, Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacy

Majors: Pharmacology, Preventive Health Science, Clinical Pharmacy

Pharmacology, Toxicology and clinical Pharmacy involves the studies of mechanisms of action, efficacy, effectiveness, adverse and toxic events of a drug and its clinical application.
