Students become eligible to apply for the comprehensive exam after registering for at least three semesters, and from the semester in which a certain number of credits is achieved or is expected to be achieved. The comprehensive exam for a master's program consists of more than two subjects, while the examination for doctoral and combined master's-doctoral programs consists of more than three subjects. Specific subjects are as follows:

Completed courses: Recognizes all courses taken from Life & Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy, and Industrial Pharmaceutical Science.

Doctoral students who have previously earned a master's degree in pharmacy from Ewha Womans University may choose and apply for subjects for which they have not undertaken the comprehensive exam for master's degree, when applying for the comprehensive exam for a doctoral course (requests submitted by students shall be decided upon by the academic affairs committee of the graduate school).

The exam is held in both June and December, and the specific date will be decided by the academic affairs committee of the graduate school. In order to pass the comprehensive exam, students must receive at least 70 points (out of 100 points in total).
Those who earn a score over 50 points but below 70 points are given one chance to retake the examination.
Those who earn a score below 50 points are not eligible for re-examination and their graduation will be deferred by one semester.
If a student enrolled in a combined master's-doctoral program wishes to transfer their degree course to a master's program and receive a master’s degree instead, such a decision should be made at least one semester before the transfer, then the student must pass the comprehensive exam for the master's course and submit their thesis for the degree.
